I am currently in college working towards my marketing degree and I would like to learn some graphic design (for logo creation etc.). Do I need a drawing background?
Ideally I’m looking for answers from professional graphic designers.

being able to draw really helps at the initial stage of comping up ideas and thumbnails. If you really sucked at drawing, there is always clip art and good use of typography. but you are kind of limited just relying on that.
That being said, I think the key to any good logo is an idea or feel (if you don’t have a good idea) that conveys what the company does or would like to communicate.
