I am getting ready to set up a local advertising and graphic design business, but I cannot come up with any legitimate names that sound professional. Something like “Shayla’s Advertising” sounds stupid. I need a catchy name that is marketable.

Sorry… couldn’t resist. Probably before your time, but here’s the backstory
In order to transform into Captain Marvel, Billy must speak the wizard’s name, an acronym for the six various legendary figures who had agreed to grant aspects of themselves to a willing subject: the wisdom of Solomon; the strength of Hercules; the stamina of Atlas; the power of Zeus; the courage of Achilles; and the speed of Mercury.
You are wise not to name the business after yourself … because if you ever decide to sell it, the forced name change will make it less valuable to the new owners.
You can use a geographic name … New York Graphic is probably taken, but something similar in your city may be available. It’s instantly recognizable and conveys longevity even if you don’t have any.
You can use a creative name … Starlight graphics … Designbuzz … ImagineAction … DisplayWorld… etc.
Or a straight name: Advertising and Design, Inc. … NYAds … etc.
The key is to choose something that conveys what and who you are, plus what and who you hope to become. I named my agency Marketing Partners and chose a logo that is rich in color, even though others advised me to choose something that conveyed more of a one-man shop (which I was for many years). But I knew I would not remain a one man shop, and I chose something that depicted my relationship goal with my clients. It worked out well.
Decide where you want to be in 20 years. Pick a name that fits that vision.
