Okay, so I’m a complete beginner when it comes to designing websites and the like, and when I say beginner, I mean…”I have no idea what HTML stands for” beginner, though I am VERY open and willing to learning. So, I thought that asking around for any good guides about coding would be a better choice than going out and buying boxes of “____ for Dummies” frivolously. I’m 14 yrs. old and jobless, so that is OUT of the question. Anyway, I hope that someone can point me in the right direction. ((Books, websites…anything that could help are appreciated…))

You’ve got a lot to learn. I say you should enroll in a class in your school.
Make sure you are learning XHTML which is the newer version of HTML. The older version is going to be phased out, so you want to make sure you learn XHTML.
I’ve included a link to a great book.

Begin learning HTML. I recommend
http://www.w3c.org
for a lot of good, free information. For example, start with
http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Guide/
for a beginning tutorial.
Next, I recommend the Max Design site for great tutorials on CSS.
http://css.maxdesign.com.au/index.htm
Start with the “Selectutorial” to understand how HTMLelements are referenced.
Then “Floatutorial” takes you step-by-step through the use of floats to control page layout.
All of the tutorials are very clear and easy to understand.
All of the books people listed are good, but churning through a book is so boring! Try this site. It gets you where you need to go, and with quick tutorials that progress you through the stuff.
