I haven’t researched that field in depth, but I know it’s a very competitive field and only the best get into it. I would suggest double majoring or getting a related minor and good work experience so you’re a more marketable candidate in the future.
Of course there will definitely be a demand for graphic designers too though since technology is a fast-moving and rapid-growing industry.
Hi yogirl66
There is alot of competition out there, if you are going to study design, I suggest, learning as much about technology as possible e.g. coding for websites as Print design is becoming less and less.
Good Luck in your future Peter
Hi
I think it more depends whether or not you are passionate about art and design. Most industries are suffering during the recession and graphic design is no exception. That said I have seen things pick up the last few months. When you have finished College the economic situation will probably be different too. I have been a graphic designer for about 18 years now and there have been ups and downs but I have always found work. Like one of the other people said, learn as much as you can about design, a graphic designer who can also code, animate or use a 3D package is going to have an advantage over the majority of other new designers.
Good luck
