  If you are going to be using your computer for heavy graphic design, you are going to want a fairly powerful computer. Doesn’t have to be an amazing one, but you will want one that won’t slow down when using more then one program.

  I would recommend:

  Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
  4 GB of DDR2 Ram (800mhz)
  Large Monitor
  Large well ventilated case
  Decent graphics card (7800 Series +)
  Keyboard with available bind keys
  550W+ PSU
  Fast read/write HDD
  Compatible MOBO with FSB speed equal to the CPU

  You could build something like that for around 1000-1200.
