I’m 16 years old and Im not to into school at all. I know I need to get good grades and stuff and I know I will need it to be happy, but it just doesnt trigger anything inside me to just try and try. I wish it did, but it doesnt!
I’m a secret computer geek though. I’m not nerdy looking or anything…have alot of friends, ect…but I know so much about computers and technical stuff that I think this is my only chance to succeed in life.
So my question is, how can I start up a little computer business? You know, maybe going around fixing old grandmas computers who have a bunch of spyware on it, or maybe a driver out of date.
Same thing goes with Graphic Arts. I’ve been doing it since I was 8 years old and I’m pretty darn good at it. I used to do vinyls for a huge company in IL(for cars) but now the economy sucks so I dont do that for them anymore.

Finish your schooling to HS graduation for it is hard to be taken seriously if you can not be disciplined enough to graduate. You need to have something that tells potential clients you are not a goof off. take classes in Business or Graphics or computer area as much as possible so you will have interest in classes. Make yourself a business card and put together a portfolio of your abilities and if you have any samples of work you did with vinyls put them in portfolio.
See if you can network with any of the others you worked with. You say you have friends let them know you have computer abilities and you are trying to earn some extra money ask them if they know someone who needs help. Make sure you do a good job every time. And keep track of your clients and what you did for them. You will also need to put some of money aside for taxes usually 15-20 percent in savings so you can pay taxes if you need to.
Without the degree and extensive experience you need to build a reputation for being able to do the work well and have good work ethics and remember you need to build a portfolio So print out one copy of designs to show what you have done. It will take time and a lot of effort and a lot of taking guff about your age, But satisfied customers will recommend you to others.
1) Dedcide which one your going to do and put your time into.
2) If your that good why did the company stop using you? Or not suggest you to another company.
3) You NEED a website and a business card.
4) Start to contact possible clients who might need your services. Then tell them to look at the website.
5)GET to work. If you have really been doing this for 8 years, I am sure your good.. but you might want to improve yourself in the art area.
6) I know many people who have quit school in 8th grade and done well. They are also very annoying people.
7)As a 16 year old people are not going to be so forthcomming to deal with you, even IF you are good. Your only 16 and there is no way to have a binding contract with you. It is going to be harder for you to do business than if you were 18.
8) are you sure you can’t finnish school and do your job?? Many people do it. It is much easier to walk away, but it takes a lot of time to learn things to become a better person.
9)There are many more programs besides photoshop that take time to learn. 3dstudio, Maya, fractial painter.
