I’m looking for the best laptop to run Adobe InDesign. Any advice on what I should buy (for under $1,000 only)?

    The best laptop is hard to define for this case since there isn’t anything too special about Adobe iD. So, with that in mind, the best laptop should ideally have:

    - Large and comfortable screen (at least 14.1″)
    - Mouse input that allows percision control
    - Fast processor (dual core, 2.0GHz+) and lots of RAM (2GB+)

    So, you’re basically looking at the best-equipped laptop in your price range. The mouse input is probably going to be the most interesting part – for those, I recommend either a Lenovo Thinkpad or Dell Latitude E-series, as those have a “mouse lever” in the middle of the keyboard that allows much better percision control than a trackpad.

    Here’s the requirements for InDesign
    ————————————————————————————————-
    * 1.5GHz or faster processor
    * Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 (Service Pack 3 recommended) or Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 1 (certified for 32-bit Windows XP and Windows Vista)
    * 512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
    * 1.8GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on flash-based storage devices)
    * 1,024×768 display (1,280×800 recommended) with 16-bit video card
    * DVD-ROM drive
    * QuickTime 7 software required for multimedia features
    * Broadband Internet connection required for online services*
    ————————————————————————————————-

    This comp is only 400 bucks and it will run it:

    Almost any new laptop will run it. I recommend getting the cheapest dual core laptop you can find. Dual core will run it a bit smotther then a single core.

    $600 bucks and this one has enough horsepower to easily run all the adobe programs. dual core, 3 gigs of ram.

    BTW the above poster is an idiot…all laptops now days have a usb port that can handle a mouse. Almost none had the old school ps2 port. Any USB mouse could be used with any new laptop.
