I’m going to have to look for colleges soon, and I want to either go into fashion design or graphic design on the computer. Is there a career that involves both? I have heard of textile design which is done on the computer, but is that designing clothes or fabric? – I’d really like to know a carrer I’d be good for and I would like it to also involve a little sewing (fashion design). any suggestions?

why not study online marketing and specialize in fashion.. a lot of people are buying their clothes online nowadays and it (designing consumer websites) might be a job you could do from anywhere..

I don’t know much about it, although I do have a niece in fashion design. But I need to know more, as I have a granddaughter who is so obviously headed that direction. So here is your star. In Fashion Design, you use a program called CAD to do the garment drawings. As for graphic design, I think they use other programs.
If I were you I would go for graphic design. I got my degree in fashion design and then I hated it. Graphic design will open up a lot more doors, and you could still work for fashion companies, just not in the design phase. You could also do advertisements, etc.
With graphic design, you could even work from home one day if you wanted. Assuming you are a woman, that really helps when it comes time for kiddos.
The downside with graphic design is that there is a lot of time pressure. You are the last phase of a project typically. With fashion design, it is a mean mean world where few make it. So there ya go….
