There are a lot of jobs, it just depends on how dedicated you are. If you are willing to move, you can design video games in L.A or interior or fashion design in New York or magazine image design. There are also a lot of jobs you can get in almost any city, like website design or logo design or menu design. The possibilities are endless and after a few years of schooling, you should have a much better idea of what you are good at and what you like to do.

Graphic design yields some of the best figures in terms of graduate work placement within the arts. Traditionally associated with advertising and packaging design, Graphic Design is now just as associated with Web Design, Corporate Identity, Branding, Film, Console/PC Games and many other exciting fields of employment.
During your Degree you will no doubt be given a taster for the main areas of graphic design applications within industry – namely advertising, packaging, web design, software, etc. This will give you a firm idea of the kind of areas you would like to work in.
More importanly during your studies you will be encouraged to develop your own particular methods, style (for want of a better term) , niche , media and maybe even subject matter. For example whilst cetain graphic designers focus entirely on web design, others may prefer a wider angle.
To get a better idea of real graphic design jobs available why not read through some of the positions being advertised at http://www.art-design-jobs.co.uk/ or similar websites. This will give you a clue to the types of employment in the graphic design sector as well as employer expectations, salary, etc.

Anything involving advertising. You can even get some photography jobs since you know how to use photoshop and can retouch them then.
Right now with the economy being pretty rough though it’s actually hard to find any graphic design jobs. I graduated last year with a bachelors and I worked at a photography studio for a while, did some freelance work for a company, and now I found a job as an assistant/graphic designer/photographer for someone who owns a company. I live on the east coast though, it may be easier in other parts.
