With a strong portfolio, a website and a small group of clients I would like to expand my graphic design business into something more full time. Without spending a fortune on online advertising, or networking my current clients (they are all real estate agents and I really want to start working with a larger variety of clients) how can I promote my existing business? I’m looking for off-the-wall suggestions that would stand out from what everyone in my area seems to do (i.e. Craigslist, online ads). This is a small business, me…

Question by bluebell: Need help: Market Research for new graphic design business…? I would really appreciate anyone’s input. What would you pay for a logo for a small business? I would include a logo, business card, and brochure. What is a realistic price for a package like this? Thanks so much :) Best answer: Answer by johnsonm655I like the fact that you are packaging up several forms of print I think that adds value. However, I really have no frame of reference of this type of service. I would set a regular price of $ 150 for this and run…

Are ‘quotes’ in graphic design necessary?

Posted on November 8th, 2010 by David Montgomery Jr.
I’ve been looking at the graphic design business and I’ve seen almost all of the place from professional to amateur offer a ‘free quote’. Maybe I’m just projecting here, but this concept just seems a tad pretentious. I mean making graphics on a digital program isn’t something you really need to quote, heck it isn’t even something one should charge for; it’s almost too easy to create an uninspired piece of vector art these days and most companies do. Can you market a business/service from your apartment? (I.e graphic design, or hair styling services)?

Posted on November 3rd, 2010 by David Montgomery Jr.
I do not have a license for a service that I want to provide, and I would like to hand out business cards/flyers to people. Has anyone had this experience? How do you recommend this be done? Thanks. No chemicals, and I wouldn’t have more than 1 “client” every two or three weeks. But in terms of giving my address, I should…
