My fiance went to school for mechanical design, but he is awesome at graphic design?
My fiance has an associates in mechanical design engineering. He was originally going for graphic design, i dont know why he stopped.
He made our wedding invitations, and he is just amazing!
I am so so impressed! He showed me what he has done in the past too.
Is there any way he could get a graphic design job if he created a portfolio of his work even though he is a mechanical design major?
I think he would be so much happier =]

I have to start thinking about a career with college coming up. Graphic design is what i LOVE to do. I’m a very creative person, i love creating my own things, from editing pictures, designs, videos, photoshopping, html, web designs. I even just love drawing pictures. But one of my concerns is, are there any HIGH-PAYING jobs in graphic design? & what are they? Advertising? I really wanna be successful when I get a job. I really wanna make at least $100k per year. That would be pretty nice living. :)

I am looking to relocate to the Portland, OR area. Anyone a working designer in the area with some advice as to what places to look at or where to begin my job hunt (other than online job sites such as monster, or creative hotlist)? My wife and I are both mid level print designers. Any info would be helpful.

I’m 19 and trying to decide my school major. My main skills are with graphic design, so it would be the best idea to go for that. But I would really like to make money doing illustration and/or cartoons. Maybe a storyboard artist, cartoon illustrator or something like that. Would I need a degree in illustration for that? I have no life drawing or painting skills, I can just draw different cartoon styles. So I am looking for advice on what to do

Why is it so hard to find a Graphic/Web design job?
I thought that these were high demand jobs. I went to school for this and have an online digital portfolio.
I can’t even count how many job listings I responded to and hear nothing, I can’t even get an interview.
It seems like every place wants all this experience but how do you get your foot in the door?
