by Tom Womack – One of the things that make After Effects animation a little easier is that their design places five basic attributes in a ‘Transform’ set that is common to all After Effects objects. Having this common ground makes the terrain a bit more familiar and helps your plan your design. Every object in After Effects has this same set of attributes under the ‘Transform’ group: ‘Anchor Point, Position, Scale, Rotation, and Opacity’. After Effects CS5 – Layer Timeline Options

by Tom Womack - The timeline options in After Effects add special design management features. While you might manually edit a layer timeline duration, using the duration/stretch control panel lets you make precise edits. If you want to synchronize layers or set precise timing, using this editable control feature is the tool of choice. Like many edits in After Effects, manual tools are provided so you can make these edits visually.
