What’s the best graphic design software to use if I have a PC and not a MAC?
I want to purchase a graphic design software with a tutorial so I can learn how to make logos, magazine covers, etc. Some of the graphic design softwares are very expensive – like up in the thousands. I really don’t know which one would be best. I have an older version of Corel Draw. I think it’s 6.0 or something like that, but I never learned how to use it. I’m in the market for a new computer, which I plan to use in creative advertising. I was wondering what others in the field are currently using in terms of hardware and software — essentially, I’m interested in what is considered “top of the line” in 2007 for advertising professionals.
I have pretty much every piece of Adobe software from the late 90’s, and am positive I want to purchase their newer versions.
In respect to layout software like QuarkXpress, is this still being used for advertisements or has InDesign taken over?

I plan on one day becoming a Graphic Designer, Photographer, Journalist, or a Fashion Designer.
