Should I take graphic design or business? or both?

Posted on July 6th, 2010 by brianone shout
So basically I’ve wanted to designing clothing; particularly in t-shirt designs and start up my own subversive brand/ business/ retail store like such: http://www.karmaloop.com/ I’ve been building up a digital portfolio of my own and shown them to some friends and received positive feedback and, with a year and a half left of high school I’ve pretty much got a good handle on working with Adobe Creative Suite and gotten a good general idea of how to process my ideas into the real thing. But: I really want to further my skills with using adobe to a professional level and…

Graphic design holds great position of importance along with website designing although both processes are different with each other. Graphics is more associated with the creative part whereas website design with the coding side. There combination leads to a site that is good looking and appealing. Those who fail to recognize the importance of graphic design application in websites, they are not able to generate the sites that are attractive. Business card or personal card or both?

Posted on April 14th, 2010 by brian2 shouts
I recently got a job as a columnist and they have supplied me with a neat looking uniform business card template with the company name and logo. I already have business cards designed for my personal business, a graphic and web design freelancing team, though I haven’t printed any yet. I’ll be going to a convention with press credentials but handing out work business cards is not required, however, I will be there as a writer. With this in mind, I was thinking or having both a work and a personal business card printed to hand out to various people…

Do I need to be good at both web development and design?

Posted on April 1st, 2010 by brian3 shouts
Well, I prefer to think of myself as a web developer, `not` a web designer. I could create a whole entire new forum-blog-cms system if I wanted, but I could not create a default theme, even so simple as to have no images in it. Now, I know that also being a web designer would be great, and I am going to try to learn to become one, but I have trouble with getting creative, and learning in general. I am great with photoshop, but, say I made a site on photoshop, I could not take it…

Marketing: both advertising and graphic designing?… so confused!?

Posted on March 21st, 2010 by brian2 shouts
Hey there, So i’m a college student just trying to figure out my major. I am really good at graphic design and website design, and I would love to go into advertising for a small business (not for a large advertising firm or anything though), or even better for the Milwaukee Brewers. But I don’t understand the difference between Marketing and Advertising. What else does a marketer do? So I have a couple questions: First, do most large companies hire advertising firms, or do some have internal marketing/advertising employees? Secondly, what are the roles of a…
