I want to go back to college and I can not afford a four year school, so I thought I’d go the the local community college. I can get an Associates Degree with a concentration in Illustration. What kind of work can I expect to be able to get with that? Is it all going to be freelance work, where I’ll need an agent?What exactly can I expect with that major?

I am a very artistic person (always have been) and enjoy creating advertisements, film posters, catchy tag lines, using color/fonts, and using the various design programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). My fear is that I will have to eventually need to learn Website Design, such as creating a website from scratch, website coding, and other non-”artistic” techniques. I do not enjoy creating codes to get an effect and I have a hard time with HTML, XHTML, and whatever else website design entails. Can you really get a good 9-5 job as a grapic designer, or does it all depend on what area you specialize in? I have experience from working at a Photo Studio as a digital Imager, but I didnt make much money doing it, plus what companies look for people with degrees in graphic design?

What should be paid to the designer for the initial design and for a digital file that is ready to go directly to press?

Long story short, a company wants me to make a template that will be applied to over 100 sites. Should I charge per site, an initial fee then a small fee per site, or just one price for all?
